Lawrence Funk

Funk's Barbershop

Bio

Lawrence Funk aka Lawrence The Barber has always had a fascination for cutting hair. At the age of 10, he began giving himself haircuts. Impressed with his look, Lawrence’s friends began requesting he cut their hair. His interest in making people look and feel good eventually led to a career in barbering. While in college, Lawrence began customizing his own hair clippers, which eventually led to the founding of Funk’s Custom Clippers. After college, Lawrence pursued other avenues in the barbering industry in hopes that he could land a career in a shop that embodied traditional barbering, with modern style.

While working downtown Chicago Lawrence realized the art of classic barbering techniques had become obsolete. He wanted to differentiate himself from what barbering had become and bring back the traditional style of barbershops from the 1920’s. Inspired, Lawrence set out to make waves in the barbering industry by reinstating longstanding traditions and opening his own shop; Funk’s Barbershop.
